What I’ve Learned About Garden Blogging This Year #1

What have I learned about blogging this year? I’m about to write a series on the things I’ve learned this year in the blogging world. There are a few posts coming down about the major things I’m thinking of related to blogging and the Net. Of blogging and my approach to it. Of just general ‘stuff” that seems to fit into this end-of-year reflection.

Lesson #1 It’s an interesting world. The biggest fights are about the smallest of things.

    OK, Doug this should be good.

    I have noticed the problems and difficulties you are having because I am trying to build a Blog myself. Not trying to be as extensive as your Web Sites, but a little more advanced than the basic blog.

    I have been following several Gardening blogs learning how and what they post. I am not a writer or a computer programmer but learning to be so fast.

    Recently found out that I will have to go to a Host and use WordPress from there to accomplish the things I want my blog to do.. That means I need to learn to be a blog programmer to some extent.

    Looking forward to your post’s on blogging, will probably have a lot of questions and comments.

    See Ya,
    John

    @John at JWLW -
    You’ll be able to sort it all out I’m sure. One step at a time is usually the best way and there are some good tutorials at wordpress for getting it all going

    The wordpress tutorials were a great booster to me. Of course I tried it without them first then got stuck and after viewing them had to go back and fix things. (Like reading the instructions after getting stuck on anything.) Then WordPress changed the dashboard and now the tutorials don’t match up. Since I didn’t know the old dashboard it is tough figuring out what the tutorials are referring to. I hope they revise them soon, or at least come up with a way you can seperate the new ones from the old.

    Sid Raischs last blog post..You Are One of Us – Are you Indie Bound?

    Sid – my dad used to say that if all else fails – read the instructions. (Read them before – who are you kidding – none of us do that!) And I haven’t gone to the new version yet, there’s a ton of changes / time I have to make on my theme to do this and I’m procrastinating as best I know how to do. Probably wait for a mandatory security update and then bite that bullet.
