Real wisdom is…

There are a heck of a lot of what-was and what-will-be posts being published right now. Having done my business planning in November, I can only add this bit of current thinking.

Life is – in all things – finding a balance.

When the “what was” fills your life, you’re at the end of life – no matter how old you are.

Youth is measured in the “what will be” moments.

Life is in sucking the marrow out of “what are” moments.

Real wisdom is in understanding and balancing the differences.

  1. Wise, as always. I am trying to remind myself of this more often. Life with little ones seems to fly by so quickly that sometimes I worry that I’ll wake up tomorrow and they’ll be all grown up (and parents of adult children tell me that this is so.) Trying to savor as many sweet, bratty, messy, giggly moments as I can. Thanks for the reminder.

@Colleen Yeah, it’s hard with 4-kids. That’s the advantage of working from home – you can simply be there when needed and it’s the funniest things that have an impact 25 years later. And the funniest little things you’ll remember or worse – they’ll remember – (and if like mine – “remind” me of from time to time) :-) The best thing I did was encourage them all to follow their own dreams and find ways to help them do exactly that. They’re still doing that and leading interesting lives as a result (yeah, insanely proud of them all) :_)

Thank you! I needed that. I must bury the ‘what was’ and believe in the ‘what will be’.

Doug – touching – great way to begin a day. Your pond photo is wonderful.
