Post-Thanksgiving dinner notes to self.

Say thanks to and for the Princess – (check)

Resolve never to eat that much again. (check)

Resolve to forget the above resolve (check)

Don’t talk about what you’re going to do – just do it (Check)

Don’t write about stuff that doesn’t interest you because somebody else wants you to (Ongoing and agreed)

Write what you want because you want to – regardless of notes from readers asking for more of gardening or this or that. It’s a blog for heaven’s sake, let them unsubscribe.(check)

Do projects because they either make a ton of bucks or because they interest you (focus on ones that interest me but don’t ignore getting rich – check)

Do have fun with this stuff even though it doesn’t make sense to others. (Agreed)

Don’t wonder why many other writers don’t understand Net – they don’t. (Get over it – they don’t think like you do – interesting message from friend – getting over it)

Do ask why I’m doing what I’m doing? (Check)

Make sense of above answer (not a chance yet)

Upgrade all pics on sites because you’re scanning 1000’s of slides and remembering what you used to grow (started and ongoing)

Resolve to make gardens more interesting than previous design because you’ve seen a lot of old plant-friends and remembered gardens you’ve visited (check)

Actually do above (see April)

Resolve to forget about why I blog or figuring out where it fits – just have fun doing it (check)

Have fun (planned)

Sail more (planned)

Drive Spit more (planned)

Hug the Princess …

    Great list Doug.
    My favorite?
“Resolve to forget about why I blog or figuring out where it fits – just have fun doing it.”
I enjoy reading your blog because you have fun with it. As a bonus, I glean pearls of gardening wit and wisdom.

Hey Marie – I love it – haven’t heard or seen the word “glean” in some time :-) Fun to see and think about being a gleaner or a gleanee or ?? Thanx. :-)

  3. Jenny B says:

Looks like you are getting a head start on you New Year’s Resolutions. I resolved years ago to never make any more resolutions…so far, I have kept it very nicely. ;-)

  4. Doug says:

@Jenny B Yeah, I no longer make New Year’s resolutions – I just make ‘em when I need ‘em. And I find if I write about them – then I really have to do them. :-)

  5. Yvonne says:

Glad you’re not going to stop blogging. I enjoy hearing what you’re up to. Christmas will give you another chance to never eat that much again. ; )

    Cheers, Y

  6. Doug says:

@Yvonne – well, as you know there are days and then there are days… I’m happier with the notion of a blog now then I ever have been but we’ll see how it all turns out (nothing like taking some time and thinking a ton of stuff through) And yeah, Christmas is “bad” on my figure. LOL. Already buying dieting books to have something to read on cold nights ;-)

  7. This is the most common thing I always hear after Thanksgiving and Christmas: “Resolve never to eat that much again.”. It’s so hard when we make so much food and feel obligated to stuff ourselves.

  8. Doug says:

And you’ll note the resolve under that. :-)
