I want to wish all my readers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
May all the blessings of this season be yours along with my wish that the Simple Gifts of life will be yours in 2009.
Along with that of course goes my wish that your gardens be green, your weeds be few and your laughs be abundant.

Christmas seems like a good time to convey my thanks for the pleasure and useful knowledge you have given me during the past year. I’m sure I represent a considerable body of folk from whom you seldom hear, but who read, digest and appreciate every word you write. As I live and garden in the south of New Zealand, your subject matter is often out of season for me, but that has its compensation in that you bring some much needed sunshine into my winters. I admire your industry and self-organisation. To me, managing my garden is a demanding, time-consuming interest, and while I have sometimes thought of going online to share my thoughts and experiences, I don’t know how I would fit it all in to my day as you obviously do along with other, e.g. broadcasting commitments. My very sincere Christmas greetings to you and those around you.
