You just never know :-)
One of the things I’ve found about the Internet is that it changes so very, very fast. When I worked for a major nursery, we used to introduce about 300 new varieties every year and it was a bit of a stretch to keep up with them all. On the Net, I think there’s 300 new varieties introduced every week.
About six months ago, I implemented a new form of website that would allow readers to upload their own pictures and stories – ask for plant identification and insect control help. And I thought I’d be able to use that system for a full blogging platform. Well – yes and no.
The site has been an unqualified success with tons of pictures going up, stories and requests for assistance. It has been a good thing to do and I’ll keep that software rolling.
But it was a bit clunky for me to write straight blog posts. And I missed doing that.
So – what I’m doing now is reintroducing blogging software and tying it into the other upload system. Readers will be able to continue uploading things and I’ll be able to write easier. It will take a little hocus-pocus to get it all working smoothly but that’s what winters are for. If I can’t be out in the garden, then I might just as well be writing and messing about with my garden websites.
So – here we are back to blogging in a bit more traditional way but working at integrating it to the other system.
You just never know what plant is going to be introduced next or where the Net is going to lead me.

Whew!!! It’s really hard to keep up with you … how do you ever get any sleep at night with all those ‘what ifs” in your head!! I’m remembering back to the original newsletters, and how much internet stuff I’ve since learned trying to keep track of your good gardening stuff!!
Ellie – the “what if’s” are the fun part of my work. Wait till you see next spring.
