Garden Photography Contest

Here are the guidelines for entering the contest. Please read them all because entering the wrong contest area will disqualify your picture – it will simply not be uploaded.

Prizes:

10 Grand Prizes:

There are 10 boxes of bulbs to be given away courtesy of the Netherlands Flower Bulb Information Center. These are the people who ship me great bulbs and information to write about and I’m a big fan of what they do.

The bulb boxes contain 50 of the hottest bulbs for next year (10 each of 5 varieties) So the winners will have something that no other gardeners are going to have! These bulbs are not available in stores and are usually only sent out to a very few garden writers to trial and promote.

Value of having plants no other gardener in your neighborhood has? :-) Yeah, priceless braggin’ rights.

5 of these are going to Canadians and 5 to U.S. gardeners (the bulbs will be shipped to you) to make it fair to both sides of the border. It is IMPORTANT that you id your country when you enter ( a single word will do it in the location box of the form ) so we can separate the entries. A box of bulbs to each country will be going to the single best photograph in every category.

First Prizes: I have 5 gardening books to give away – hard copies of books that I’ll be telling you about over the next month.

Runner up prizes. As always – deserving pictures that don’t quite make the cut will be given an ebook of their choice. There are always more of these than I think so there’s no limit. Somewhere between 3-5 in each category will get a free ebook.

I hope you see the pattern here – multiples of 5. This means we have 5 categories you can enter in.

Pay attention because you’re going to have to enter in the right area to be considered eligible for judging. Because we expect a LOT of entries, we’re separating the contests into different areas and you have to upload into the right area.

Best Bulb Shot. This can be spring, summer or fall bulb photographs. Either close up or garden shots but bulbs have to be featured.
Upload your Best Bulb Shot here.

Best Closeup. A closeup of any kind of plant
Enter your best closeup here

Best Backyard Garden – not closeup. This is the best backyard photograph. Remember – it’s the photograph we’re judging here. You don’t have to take the entire backyard but you have to show us more than one plant. If you’re not sure if your pic qualifies, see the last category.

Enter your backyard garden photo here

Best Video! New! Many of you have video cameras and software now so here’s your chance to make a garden video and strut your stuff. The rules for this are a little different.
1) Make your video.
2) Upload it to Youtube
3) send me the url for your video by replying to this email or the contact-me page on any of my sites, and I’ll upload it to my video-blog site.

You must have produced this video in response to this contest. It should not be pre-existing.

Open Category. This is a category that we could call “doesn’t fit anywhere else”. It isn’t a bulb, closeup, backyard, or video so it fits here. And if you’re unsure where to upload your picture – it goes here. :-)
Upload the Open Category Picture Here

Fine Print: Prizes are awarded based on the picture and how good it is. Prizes are awarded (or not) on the decision of the judges and these are final.

Closing Date – September 18th (Friday) when I open up the computer after morning coffee. Judging, as usual, will take some time depending on how many entries we get.

Remember -you have to enter in the right category to be considered.

box of flower bulbs
p.s.

As I said – these bulbs will not be available through garden stores in North America – no other gardeners other than our 10 winners will receive these bulbs (well, if you don’t count me and a few other lucky garden writers) :-)

I thought the point of this is to view other gardens (including my own) Where are you suppose to click?
Gardening on my mind, not computers

You click on the links in the article and then you see the links to the pics below the upload box. Not sure what you’re asking.
