Earth Hour is coming up on Saturday, March 29. We’re going to ask you all to shut down your power – all of it – for one hour beginning at 8pm and ending at 9pm.
It’s a small thing but watch this video to get the impact. Australia started it and see what a difference they made in just one hour and just one day.
So give me one reason you can’t do this. Give me one reason you can’t turn off the switch – turn off all power. Bundle up if you’re cold. Take a walk if you’re bored. Take a bundled up walk if you’re cold and bored.
Just don’t use electricity.
You get to be a small part of a large solution. You get to feel good and prove you still care. Even after all these years, you still care.
Or you don’t, instead you believe in your own personal comfort and in going down with the ship.

Great, I’ll spread the word. Didn’t hear about this last year, so hopefully more people will learn about it this time around. Thanks for the head up, Dave!
I think this is an awesome idea! I’ll do it myself and help spread the word.
If you are really interested in using less electricity, there is a company that manufactures an energy saving device that hooks into your electric box. They guarantee at least a 10% saving. I know of one person who saved 46% in one month. If you are interested, please send me an email for more information.
Is there a way to forward this besides cut and paste? Otherwise, that’s what I’ll do. And I will see if my husband will help. (I won’t be home.)
I think the best way to forward it to friends is to cut and paste it and then forward it to all your friends. Blogging software doesn’t really work as email forwarding (or at least I’ve never set it up to do that – perhaps I should look into it for things like this).
Earth Hour is a great idea to help people become more aware. If you are really interested in helping the environment and reducing greenhouse gases on a more daily basis (as opposed to an hour), why not sign up with BullFrog Power. It is easy (just go to their website) and only costs about $1.00 a day more. They use only renewable energy (wind, small scale hydroeletric) and so by signing up with them you are supporting renewable, nonpolluting energy!
Kathy – interesting option – not available where I live though.

I realized my email address didn’t show up in my last post. If you are interested in an energy saving device contact me at **doug removes all email addresses so spam robots will not pick them up** and I will forward you the information.
